Taurus 80, Torino, Italy, is setting up its first U.S.-based facility, Taurus Die Casting LLC, in Rockford, Illinois.
The zinc die caster is hiring 37 full-time workers and will invest $6.4 million into a 44,000-sq.-ft. facility. Taurus 80 manufactures zinc diecast parts and employs 268 people in its Torino and Tunisia facilities.
According to the Rockford Register-Star, $500,000 in remodeling work has begun for Taurus Die Casting LLC. Per the report, Roberto Marselli, president and CEO of the Rockford company, visited last year to find the right spot for the U.S. expansion.
“Our customers, our suppliers are in the U.S., mostly in the Midwest. That's where the growth is,” he told the Register-Star. “So this is where we needed to be. The labor force here is key.”
He added that the company hopes to have 75 employees there within five years
